Rules
Simulation
- all games are simulated with the FHL program.
- games are simulated Monday to Friday.
- not every team will play every day, so GMs will have to follow the schedule.
- results and statistics are posted daily.
Participation
- GMs are expected to participate to the best of their abilities.
- rosters and lines are to be sent to the Commissioner by 6am EST on the day of a scheduled game.
- write ups and team reports are not required, nor is having your own team page, but both are welcomed.
- GMs are expected to respond to all messages in a timely manner whenever possible.
- GMs are to show respect to all other GMs and the Commissioner.
- the Commissioner reserves the right to revoke the franchise privileges of any GM if deemed necessary.
Players
- players are categorized in 5 positions:
- C = Centre
- LW = Left Wing
- RW = Right Wing
- D = Defense
- G = Goal tender
- players are rated from 1 to 99 in a number of categories that will affect his play, and the play of his line mates:
- PO = Position: (Centre, Left Wing, Right Wing, Defense, Goal tender)
- HD = Handed: (Left or Right)
- CD = Condition: Player's health as a percentage ( OK means 100%)
- IT = Intensity: How aggressive a player is
- SP = Speed: How fast a player skates
- ST = Strength: How strong a player is
- EN = Endurance: The stamina level of a player
- DU = Durability: How well the player avoids injury
- DI = Discipline: How well the player avoids penalties
- SK = Skating: How agile the player is on his skates
- PA = Passing: How well the player passes to set his line mates up for goals
- PC = Puck Control: How well the player controls the puck
- DF = Defense: How well the player defends the opposition
- SC = Scoring: How well the player can score goals
- EX = Experience: How much playing experience the player has
- LD = Leadership: How well a player can inspire his teammates
- OV = Overall: The overall ability of the player
- IJ = Injury Status: Roughly how long a player's injury will last (DD= Day to day, 1W= 1 to 2 weeks, 3W= 2 to 4 weeks, 1M= 4 to 6 weeks, 3M= 2 to 4 months, IN= Indefinite, S#= number of games suspended)
- players will be re-rated following each FHA season, based on their performance in the past season.
- players will age one year following each FHA season.
- players will retire based on a formula:
- players still under contract following a season: Odds of retiring = 1% per year of age at end of season.
- players not under contract following a season: Odds of retiring = 2% per year of age at end of season.
Coaches
- coaches are rated from 1 to 99 in 4 categories that will affect the play of his team:
- OF= Offense: How much a coach stresses offense, and how well his offensive game plan works
- DF= Defense: How much a coach stresses defense, and how well his defensive game plan works
- EX= Experience: How much coaching experience the coach has
- LD= Leadership: How well a coach can inspire his team
- coaches are not re-rated.
- coaches do not retire.
Rosters
- each team is required to carry a roster of 25 active players and 1 coach:
- 1 coach
- 2 to 3 goal tenders
- 6 to 8 defensemen
- 12 to 14 forwards; at least 4 centres, 4 left wingers, 4 right wingers
- each team must dress 20 players for each league game:
- 2 goal tenders
- 6 defensemen
- 4 centres
- 4 left wingers
- 4 right wingers
- each team may have as many players as they wish; those not on the active roster will be assigned to the team's farm club.
Lines
- each team will assign its players to lines:
- Even Strength Unit 1: Centre, Left Wing, Right Wing, Defense, Defense
- Even Strength Unit 2: Centre, Left Wing, Right Wing, Defense, Defense
- Even Strength Unit 3: Centre, Left Wing, Right Wing, Defense, Defense
- Even Strength Unit 4: Centre, Left Wing, Right Wing, Defense, Defense
- 5 man Power Play Unit 1: Centre, Left Wing, Right Wing, Defense, Defense
- 5 man Power Play Unit 2: Centre, Left Wing, Right Wing, Defense, Defense
- 4 man Power Play Unit 1: Centre, Left Wing, Defense, Defense
- 4 man Power Play Unit 2: Centre, Left Wing, Defense, Defense
- 4 man Penalty Kill Unit 1: Centre, Left Wing, Defense, Defense
- 4 man Penalty Kill Unit 2: Centre, Left Wing, Defense, Defense
- 3 man Penalty Kill Unit 1: Centre, Defense, Defense
- 3 man Penalty Kill Unit 2: Centre, Defense, Defense
- Starting Goal tender
- Back-up Goal tender
- Extra Attacker 1: Can be any skater
- Extra Attacker 2: Can be any skater
Farm Clubs
- each FHA team will be represented by a Farm Club.
- Farm Clubs are made up of all players under contract, but not on their FHA team's active roster.
- there are no minimum or maximum numbers for players on a Farm Club, and a coach is not required.
- the purpose of the Farm Club is to provide players for the FHA team in the event of injury, trade, loss to Free Agency, or the poor performance of a player.
- players can be promoted from, or demoted to, the Farm Club by the FHA team in accordance with Waivers.
- players on a team's Farm Club will receive 10% of their contracted salary dollar amount.
- injured players may not be sent to the Farm Club.
Waivers
- a player can be demoted without question to the Farm Club provided he is under the age of 24 and has played less than 10 games in the FHA during the current season.
- a player who is over the age of 24 and has played 10 or more games in the FHA during the current season must pass through Waivers before he can be demoted.
- players on Waivers may be claimed by any other FHA team, but claims are subject to a priority list with the teams lowest in the current standings having priority for the first claim.
- if no team above the claiming team in the priority order makes a subsequent claim for the player, he will go to the team that made the initial claim.
- any team that successfully claims a player will then be sent to the bottom of the priority list.
- any player on Waivers who is not claimed within 24 hours, or one league day, will then be sent to his team's Farm Club.
Trades
- teams may trade any combination of players, draft picks, and cash.
- teams may trade draft picks for up to 6 seasons in advance.
- all trade e-mails must include the word "trade" in the subject line, as well as the names of all teams involved.
- all players, picks, and cash amounts must be clearly specified:
- Players: Full Name
- Draft Picks: Team, Year, Round
- Cash: Specific dollar amount
- all trades must be sent to the Commissioner.
- all trades must be verified by all teams involved.
- once trades are received by the Commissioner and verified by all teams involved they will then be reviewed by the Commissioner to ensure that no FHA rules are violated, intentionally or otherwise.
- once a trade is finalized by the Commissioner the transaction will be completed and will then be reflected in the team rosters the next league day.
Free Agents
- all players will be under contracts which state a dollar amount per season and the number of seasons.
- the dollar amount per season is consistent and is fixed at an equal amount.
- the maximum length of an FHA contract is 3 seasons.
- the minimum salary dollar amount for an FHA player is $100,000 per season.
- there is no maximum salary dollar amount for an FHA player.
- when a player's contract expires he will become a Free Agent.
- players under the age of 30 will be Restricted Free Agents.
- players aged 30 or older will be Unrestricted Free Agents.
- teams may sign Free Agents by placing bids on them.
- any team may bid on any player.
- Free Agent bidding is simple:
- Free Agents will sign with the team offering the highest Dollar Amount.
- if the dollar amount is equal, then the player will sign the longest contract.
- if the dollar amount and the contract length are equal, then the tied teams must place new bids.
- bidding must increase in increments of $100,000 per season, which equals $0.1 million per season.
Restricted Free Agents
- a player under 30 years of age and without a contract will be a Restricted Free Agent.
- any team may make an offer to a Restricted Free Agent, but the player's last team has a choice of keeping that player by matching the highest bid, or they may give that player up to the highest bidder in exchange for compensation from the player's new team.
- guidelines for compensation will be decided later.
Unrestricted Free Agents
- a player 30 years of age or older and without a contract will be an Unrestricted Free Agent.
- any team may make an offer to an Unrestricted Free Agent without having to pay compensation to the player's last team.
Releasing Players
- any team may release any player at any time, but must immediately pay out that player's salary:
- 1st year of contract: Must pay 75% of player's remaining contract
- 2nd year of contract: Must pay 50% of player's remaining contract
- 3rd year of contract: Must pay 25% of player's remaining contract
- any released player immediately becomes an Unrestricted Free Agent.
Hiring and Firing Coaches
- any team may fire its coach at any time, but must immediately pay out that coach's salary:
- 1st year of contract: Must pay 75% of coach's remaining contract
- 2nd year of contract: Must pay 50% of coach's remaining contract
- 3rd year of contract: Must pay 25% of coach's remaining contract
- coaches not under contract are always Unrestricted Free Agents.
